General Chun Chai-tong, ¡C-in-C. of the 8th Route Army, who had been in Kwangsi direct- ing the campaign against the in- surgents since last month, left Wuchow yesterday morning on the gunboat Chap Shun for Sum- shul, where he entrained for Can- ton, arriving at Shek Wai Tong Station at 7.20 lust evening.

General Chan admitted that representa-. tives of the Ironside-Kwangsi fac- tion had been sent to Wuchow submitting their surrender, and should their submission be genuine, the General would be happy to accept it.

The tide-table given below has been obtained by aid of the The-predict- ing Machine, which includes 40 com- ponents for the better prediction of tides, from the result of the analysis of the tidal observations, taken at: the Kowloon tidal observatory under the direction of Dr. Dobuzak during the years 1887, 1888 and 1889.

The times and heights are given. for Kowloon; but they may be used for, the Victoria Naval, Yard and Aberdeen, the differences being very Emall.

The times of high and low-water mart not be considered to coincide with the times of alack-water and change of current, the two phenomena being quite distinct
