LATEST ADDITION TO DUTCH INDO-CHINA

FAR EAST SERVICE.

The trials of the M.V. Tanim- bar, which has been built by the Caledon Shipbuilding_and En- gineering Co., Ltd., Dundee, to the order of the Stoomvaart Maatschappij "Nederland," Am- sterdam, took place on Septem- Įber 17.

The Tanimbar is of the follow- ing dimensions, Length "b.p., 465 ft., breadth moulded 62 ft., depth moulded 36 ft. 3 in., gross tons 8,230. The vessel haa ̈ been built to Lloyd's Register of Ship- ping, the Dutch "Scheepvaart In- spectie," the Dutch require ments for the commodation, the quirements for the safety of the stevedores, and has been specially designed for trade in the Far East. Special accommodation being provided for the carriage of pilgrims.

She is divided into six main holds and one has been construct- ed to serve as a deep tank, and the cargo loading and discharging appliances are of the modern design. There are $1 range
