CUNARD LINES INSURANCE

AGREEMENT...

BOARD OF TRADE POLICY.

London, Yesterday.

An agreement between the Board of Trade and the Cunard Steamship Company, Limited,. for. the insurance of one, and possibly _two_large_passenger vessels of exceptional value which tho company proposes to build, is as- sured.

The value of these vessels will, t Ia anticipated, be about $4,500,000 each, and uncertainty exists whether the marine Insur- ance market will be able to ap sorb the whole amount of the in- surance required. The effect of the agreement, I. entered into, would be that the Government would undertake to provide insur ance against both construction and marine risks, in respect of the first vessel to be built by the company, in so far as the ardin-1 ary insurance market is unable to do so.

CONSIGNEES

LLOYD TRIESTINO NAV. CO.

NOTICE TO CONSIGNEES. Steamer

The crew of eleven had lashed themselves to the rigging. They were half dead after their terri- ble buffeting, and declared that they had signalled to four vessels in vain.

London, Oct. 10. ́ ́ The departure of steamers scheduled to sail for Bombay from Manchester to-day was delayed owing to a steamer being struck by a heavy squall in the ship camal, damaging both sides.

The ship was the Anchor liter, Casalin, which was bound for

Bombay.

The Castalia's stern was broken, the plates being damaged, and she was put in dry dock for repairs.
