Howell was born the previous March, so he is now 101.

The Reason Why..

A number of good reasons for long life can be given by Howell. He went to work at eight years of age. For his work, following a walk of six or seven miles to his job from a home on a farm, he re ceived two-pence a day.

Next March the birthday cake of Joseph Howell will be decorated with 102 candles instead of .92, due to his ability to celebrate 10 neglected natal days at one time.
