CUSTOMS BOARD ABSOLVES 3 OFFICERS.

SERIOUS CHARGES.

-Mania, October 2. Definitely absolving three rank- ing officers of the motorship San Francisco, a constwise vessel ply. ing between Visayan porta, the board of marine inquiry, bureau of customs, yesterday submitted to the Insular collector of customs its decision on the case of desertion in which three engineers of the vessel were involved.

The board of inquiry of the custom-house at Cebu investigated the desertion case and found that the three engineers. were not guilty. The local board of marine inquiry, after carefully reviewing absolved the three engineers, thus the papers pertaining to the case. confirming the decision of the Cebu board.

According to the findings of the two boards of marine inquiry, Hugo Verdin. Francisco Pea and Anastacio Deubillo, chief engineer, first assistant engineer and second engineer, respectively, refused to continue on board the assistant motorship when the San Francisco cleared from Cebu on November 23. 1929,
