Now to the story of his conver sion.
A New Idea.
WIS,
A comparatively new idea mooted in the club house. Each round of golf, it was suggested, should be judged on two scores-the score up to the green, and the score on the green. In other words, bogey for a four-bogey hole would be not four, but two twos. A five-bogey hole would carry a score of three and two, three shots up to the green, and two on it. A three bogey hole would be one shot up and the usual two putts.
My friend whose putting lets him brilliant down thought this a scheme.
Putting Saves Strokes. Keen debate now arose as to whe- ther this counted as a putt. The decision was that it did not, since the ball was not on the green when putted. His score at this normal three-bagay hole was two-and-none,
In three holes he had played. ten, shots up to the greens, and only four on the greens.
Had he continued in this strain, he would have gone round in 82, of twenty-four strokes
He would now show them how the which only real golf was played.
For the first hole. a five-bogey
would have been putts.
It is not necessary to detail the whole round. The point was fully nhole my proved that at many
