SUMMER TRIPS TO JAPAN.-Excellent first class accom- modation on through steamers from Calcutta to Japan at the specially reduced return fares of $175 to Koba and $200 to Yokohama. These return tickets are available for three months. Further reductions made for parties of not. less than four adults.

In Great Britain and Ireland at the end of June there was a de- crease of 222,920 tons in work in hand as compared with the figures for March. The present total- 1,392,063 tans-is 61,843 less than the tonnage in course struction at the end of June, 1929.

The tide-table given below has been obtained by aid of the Tide-predict- Ing Machine, which includes 40 com ponents for the batter prediction of Lides, from the result of the analysis of the tidal observations, taken at the direction of Dr. Doberck during the Kowloon tidal observatory under the years 1887, 1888 and 1880.
