General Stampede by Orientals.

GUARD'S CANDID ADMISSION.

At the resumed hearing of the Lok Ma Chau tragedy inquiry, yesterday, two Chinese seamen of the Water Police, attached to the Lok Ma Chau Police Station, stated that they had specific instruc- tions to fall in tho charge room when the alarm bell was sounded. They had had several practice alarm drills before the tragedy, the last one being a month before. They admitted, however, that on the day of the tragedy they did not go to the charge room because they were scared by the general stampede.

The Indian Station Guard admitted candidly that although he and three other men were armed with rifles they did not dare go! to the upper floor to tackle the "amok." He indicated, however, that they were not so afraid of him as of getting the fire which was being directed at Dalip Singh. froom outside the station,
