The Committee also feel that the Sanitary Board cannot be success- fully approached on any proposal regarding reduction of rent unless the majority of the landlords agree to an all round reduction in rent.

Circular Letter,

In view of the opinion held by the committee of the Chambor it was decided to circularise landlords and obtain their views on the question of a reduction of rents.

After ascertaining their views the Chamber proposes to call a public meeting af landlords to discuss the question of temporary relief during the prosent financial depression.

Such a meeting is urgently need. ed, and if the meating achieves nothing more than securing a pledge from landlords not to increase rents during the present depression it will do much to relieve the suffering of there have been two glaring in the oriental wage earners.
