Representatives of the Chinesé Bankers' Association, appearing before the Currency Committee, voiced strong opposition to any attempt to stabilise the local dollar. Amenities of life in Kowloon Tong, where it was alleged that barking dogs and radio, amongst other things, disturbed the peace of the neighbourhood, were revealed in an action at the Kowloon Magistracy, brought by one of the sufferers. The future of the Hong Kong Engineering and Construc. tion Company, which again showed an adverse balance on the year's working, was the subject of a private meeting of shareholders during the week.
