GREAT DAY'S RACING

TRIAL STAKES AND THE GOVERNOR'S CUP

APOLLO'S LATEST RECORD

Hard, fast going was the order, to-day in the second day's programme of the Hong Kong Jockey Club's annual carnival at Happy Valley and it came as no surprise when Mr. Chan Tin-sion's Apollo, the cross-bred crack imported from Shanghai at a reputed cost of 5,000 taels, established another record.

Fields were big and the finishes were desperately close; so that, no matter whether one won or lost, the sport was thoroughly enjoyed. Favourites had only a moderate showing in the four events prior to the lunch interval with the result that dividends were substantial, but they did better afterward.

Mr. T. L. Wong had a remarkable run-three firsts in succes- sion, two being for Mr. Ho Kom-tong, 0.B.E.
