Sir Miles Lampson, the British Minister in China, yesterday met the Joint committee of the Chamber of Commerce and the China Association jat Shanghai, to whom he explained the British Government's proposals for a gradual withdrawal of British extra- territorial rights in China. The two organisations embrace British and other nationals in their membership.

The action of Sir Miles Lampson in taking them into his confidence was much appreciated. BUS AND MOTOR CAR IN COLLISION

A COUNTERCLAIM

As a result of a collision between a public motor car and a motor bus belonging to the Hong Kong Hotel on the night of November 21, or in the early morning of November 22, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotel Garage were cited as defendants in an action heard at the Summary Court this morning before his Honour the Puiane Judge (Mr. Justice J. R. Wood).

Plaintiff in the action was Cheung Hon-sang owner of a public motor car-an Overland Whippet.

Mr. F. C. E. Randall appeared for plaintiff, and the defendants were represented by Mr. R. A. Wadeson.

Plaintiff claimed $400 for repairs, $50.72 being wages to the driver, $25.36 for garage rent, and $368 for business lors during one month and eight days at $8 per day.

Defendants entered 3 counter- claim for $819.75 in respect of sal vage work and repairs done to the motor bus.
