Tourists to Make Excursions in the Island

COSMOPOLITAN SHIP

During 13 days in February, beginning with the 8th and ending on the 20th, various cities in China will be visited by a large group of American tourists now steaming hither on the Red Star liner Belgenland, on her sixth consecutive annual tour around the world, from New York and California ports,

The Belgenland is due at Chinwangtao on February 8 at day- light. Here her entire company of 402 passengers will disembark, and take special trains for Peking, where they are due to arrive in the afternoon.

Motor trips, shopping and social activities will occupy a majority of the passengers for. the time that they are in Peking Others will make a special trip to the Great Wall.

DATE OF ARRIVAL HERE

All will depart by special train for Chinwangtao on the morning of February 12, and the ship will re- aume her voyage at 10 that evening. Shanghai will be the second city In China to be seen by the world tourists on the Belganland.

Naval evidence was taken by Mr. E. W. Hamilton yesterday: afternoon at the resumed hearing of the case in which three Hoklos are charged In connection with the piracy on board the Douglas a.s. Halching at 1 a.m., on Decem- ber 8; and with the murder of Mr. F. K. Woodward, third officer, and Indian Guard Khial Singh.

Lieut. Commander E. W. B. Sim, RN, commanding officer of H.M.S. Sterling, deposed that on the night of December 7, his ship was anchored in Tai Sami ereek, he, received n and at 4.45 a.m. wireless message from Hong Kong stating that the Halching had been pirated. He proceeded to the spot and located the Halching with his searchlight and then ap proached her.
