FANLING HUNT RACES
Chinese New Year Cup Won by As You Like It
VERY INTERESTING SPORT
[By "Wombat"]
Articipations of witnessing some good racing which would give one some pointers for the next big National meeting attracted quite a good attendance to the Fanling Steeplechase rices which were held at Kwanti yesterday afternoon.
It cannot be said that the crack Montana, revealed any out- standing, paints, as he failed to stay the distance and was badly beaten by As You Like It, who won last year's Fanling Grand National. Mr. T. Butteel was very proficient in the saddle aid was responsible for the best riding performance, as he rode two winners one-third and was leading in another race when his pony refused the last jump with only another fifty yards to go.
The two Cups for the cross country events were presented by Mrs. L. Dunbar, the popular Hong Kong racehorse owner, who was introduced by Major H. 4. Dowbiggin.
