At the resumed hearing of the Hal- |ching piracy case, before Mr. E. W. Hamilton yesterday afternoon, Police Sergeant Walsh deposed that the first accused was turned over to him by the officer in charge of the naval pickět when he boarded the Hatching of 8 p.m., on Sunday, December b.

Sergt. Hunt deposed to receiving 32- unwounded Chinese male adults from the Hatching and taking them ashore in Palice launch No. F.

Acting Sub-Inspector Shepheard spoke of removing the wounded to hoa- pital.

Finally the case was adjourned until the afternoon.

Captain John Kelsey Messrs. Elder Dempster and Co. have received full details as to the cause of the death of Captain John Kelsey of the steamer Patani, while Jying at Forcados. It appears that Captain Kelsey was on the bridge of his steamer, and hid been using a revolver. It aç- cidentally fell on the deck, and Captain Kelsey, stooping to pick it up, it exploded, the bullet entering his heart. He died almost im-

mediately, and the inquest verdict was that his death was caused ac cidentally.
