Cook's Allegations Against Skipper

Remarkable suggestions against the skipper of the ketch Sutherlandshire Lass were made by George McAlistair, a cook, at the Board of Trade Inquiry in Aberdeen late the loss of the vessel off the Northum- berland coast in June last. At the previous hearing. Sheriff Laing, who presiding, told the skipper, George Gunn, of Inverness, that the Board of Trade was going to moke a sug- gestion that the vessel had been scuttled.

McAlistair stated that he wished to make an alteration in the evidence he had previously given. He said that on un occasion when he board. jed the ketch with the skipper from a small boat, Gunn told him to got 4 hammer and bar. The captain drove the bar, which was sharp at the end, into the deck close to the bulwarks opposite the pump./
