The Liverpool Underwriters' As sociation has issued a clasalfed retura of casusities to vessels of 800 tona gross register and upwards which have been posted in the loss book dur- ing the month ended September. 30. This shows that there were 22 total and 671 partial losses, compared with 18 and 337 respectively

in September 1926 12 and 527 in September, 1027, and 9 and 520 in September, 1028 The nature of casualty is as follows: -Weather damage 22; founderings and abandonments, 5; strandings, |140; coilsions, 176; Ares and

plosions, ; damage to machinery, shafts, and propellers, 82; miscel laneous, 108.

Of steam and motor vcaseis ported In the loss book 8 of 14,085 tons American, the total of 24,070 tons were Brittish and 5 of such vessels being 22, compared with 14 of 31,895 tons in September, 1928, and 9 of 28,106 tons in September, 1927.
