The year 1929 passed out amidst mach bursting of fire crackers, and simultaneously the new year was ushered in with a great deal of enthusiasm. Merry-makers cele brated the New Year in various ways and in various places,
The Repulse Bay, Peninsula and Hong Kong Hotels were the main rendezvous; there the people flocked from the Island ant the mainland i.t -order to take part in the great carnival] dances. All these three hotels) were prettily decorated with colour- ed streamers, flowers and coloured lights.
