very centre of his ment. "Instalment buying, by its very nature and almost in its entire- ty, is saving." If this is true, the questions are answered. Instalment buying, being a form of saving in a way that ordinary buying is not, it self creates, at least in some measure, the larger capital, fund from which the extended credit can be supplied. But, is the statement fundamentally true? To us it appears to be largely and it is falso it follows that necessarily undesirable, needs instalmant buying, while by no means Justifications and contains real dangers against which it is essential to guard. The essential nature of Instalment ment 18.278,600.00 buying is very simple. It implies the 9,029,425.24 transfer of a commodity to a person in return for partial payment, coupled with a promise of complete payment some future time. There is, it is true, a rent anving on the part of the trana- ferer, since he waits for the balance of the amount due to him. But thin is equalled by the dissaving, or anti- eipated consumption, fares except for the amount of inter- est which he has to add to the cash price of his purchase.
