Prior to declaring the sale open, Mrs. D. Harvey, President of the Women's Guild, welcomed the gathering in the course of a brief address, in which che mentioned
how sorry they were not to have Mrs. Johnson to open the sale for them. All the same, they were very pleased to have Mrs. Durran to do the pleasant duty, and thanked her very much. It was, after all, for a worthy cause that the sale of work was held, (the Church and Manso Building and Furnishing Fund,) and she asked those present to give their best support.
"Stuffy Meetings"
The Rev. J. Horace Johnson, B.A., then addressed the gather ing, and said they were very grateful to Mrs. Durras for ae kindly accepting the position in
so short a time of notice and do- ing it so gracefully, Had Mrs. Johnson been able
to come she would have made an appeal to all the ladies to join the chatty Tuesday weekly sewing meetings. They were very different from the "stuffy mothers' meeting." he added.
Concluding, Mr. Johnson thank- ed all those who had helped to Money for Charity
