was not satisfactory. He inquir ed what the applicant had done to remedy the fault.

Mr. Yu replied that he had put in a new fan and opened the win- dows as suggested.

The President proposed to the meeting that on the understanding that this had been done Mr. Yu's application should be approved.--- Carried unanimously.

Distressing Occurrence In Shanghai

The "N. C. Daily News" of Mon- day reports:

Inspector G. Morgan, attached to Hongkew Police Station, was found dead in bed yesterday morning with | a bullet wound in his head under circumstances which indicate that he took his own life. The case is a particularly distressing one. His daughter was married on Saturday to Sub.-Inspector West of the Police and, although the deceased had Intimated that he would be present at the wedding, he failed to put in an appearance.
