Mrs. Edith Nourse Rogers, Republican Congresswoman from Massachusetts, had the signal honour of licing the first woman speaker of the House of Representative, when she received written Authorization from Specker Longworth to preside pro tem in his absence.

When Helen Williams (right), university co-ed, Jumped from the 'plane piloted by Miss Elinor Smith, noted aviatrix, her parachute failed to work and she was killed. Burt White, veteran parachute jumper, has been charged with fourth degree manslaughter because it in alleged he failed to give Miss Williams sufficient instructions as to the proper manner in which to open her parachute before she took the fatal leap.
