Season
GOOD SPORT WITNESSED
Favoured with beautiful weather the opening cruise of the season was held by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club on Saturday afternoon when a fairly large number of visitors enjoyed some good yacht- ing, rowing and lawn bowls.
.
The grounds of the Club wero bedecked with flags, thus rendering
a bright colouring contrasted with the dull green, but smooth surface of the water.
All went without mishap until the sailing sampan race, in which event Lt. Commander Dains "Simone" capsized and had to he towed in by the Commodore's pinnace, the his unexpected "dip" in the har- Occupant being none the worse for
bour.
It is very gratifying to note that all the events wars carried through without a break, the competitors, victors and losers, thoroughly on- joying the races and the fresh breeze.
Commodore's Welcome
from four o'clock till five o'clock Tea was served to the visitors
when Mr. E. W. Carpenter, the Commodore, addressed the gather- ing. He said:-

carty a qualified surgeon.
For this, our opening cruise, the weather has been good, our Naval friends have turned up and given us a very interesting and spectacu- lar salling race. The ladies have keenly contested their races, while the Club's oarsmen have given us two good rowing events and, last. but not least, Mr. George Edwards and his team of embryo bowling in terporters, have given us an teresting exbibition of their skill. I therefore think that the Club is justified in taking the view that the prospect of a very successful yacht- ing, bowling and rowing season has opened under the hast of auspices.
