GENERAL CHAN CHALTONG. For long an officer in the Nationalist .Army of Chinn and now Commander-in Chief of the 8th Route (that is, in Kwangtung and Kwangsi). After putting down the "extremists" above Wuchow, he and his men are returning to Canton. General Chan was for some time Commander of a Divisions in the 4th National Army (of which Li Chui-sum was Chief). His men acing required for the equally import- ant duty of guarding Kwangtung, he was precluded from taking part in the Northern Expedition of 1924.--(Pow Kee & Sons).
,FAR EAST AVIATION CO-Mr. F. M. Smith, fa director) and Mr. R. Vaughan Fowler (the pilot) with their Avro-Avian "Hermes" bi-plane, which can be converted into a seaplane in a few minutes. The machine has 150 horse-power, can do 20 miles to the gallon, and the maximum speed is 116 miles per hour.

ART OF THE NIPPON EMPIRE FINDS SUPPORTERS IN HONG KONG--The stage in the local Theatre Royal transformed, when "Nagauta,"
a novel form of Japanese "sing song," was held by Prof. (Mrs.) Kineys
and her students of this Colony and appreciated by a large and attentive audience, including foreigners, on October 10. Note the floral decorations, lanterns and the "background" made by the orchestra-(K. Fujiyama).

Robert and Lady Ho Tung of Hong Kong were guests of honour at a garden party given by Mr. T. C. Pan, general compradore of Mossra. Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd. (Shanghai), and Mrs. Pen, at, party proved to be a great success, and was attended by a large gathering of distinguished guests, including Dr. J. Multman (now Swedish Minister to China), Mr. T. V. Soeng, (Minister of Finance),
(French Conani-General), Mr. J Lallisbook (Swedish Consul-General), and many othera-(Ah Fong).
