WARNING TO A MARINE HAWKER

PRISON FOR SELLER

Charged with the possession of a brass grease pump,' suspected of being stoler, and failing to give a satisfac tory account of its possession, twó Chinese were at the Kowloon Magis tracy on Saturday each sentenced t

weeks' hard falur by Mr. T. S. Whyte-Smith.

1 Del-Sert F. W. Fowlie appeared

It was stated that the first decused worked on a Dutch vessel as an ockl- Job coolic and he took the pump as he saw it lying unclaimed on the deck. When he came ashore he saw the se- rond accused and told him to sell it. Foolishly enough the latter did so und, got 15 cents from a marine hawker ut Reclamation Street.

His Worship pointed out that It was actually theft, if first aegused saw is thing and picked it up.

Surgt Fowlie stated that the ship that the ownership of the pump would lie in doubt. As the Police would not be able to find out the real owner an the ship, they agreed to the marine hawker having it as he paid 45 cents for it.

In passing sentence his Worship warned the hawker to examine in future what things he bought, and to be careful.
