Accused denied selling, claiming that he had bought the beef in the market for himself, and was on his way home when the constable arrested him.

The Magistrate convicted on the hrst count and imposed a fine of $10 or 14 days. He said that he could not convict on the second charge because the accused could not get a licence for hawking beef in the streets.
