REPARATIONS AND RHINELAND
AT THE HAGUE
BOTH QUESTIONS STILL BEING DISCUSSED
MORE PRESS COMMENT
The Hague, Yesterday. It is officially stated that the meeting of Mr. Henderson, M. Briand, Dr. Stresemann and M. Hyams anent the evacuation of the Rhineland was so satisfactory that the Political Commission will not meet to-morrow,
M. Briand will thus have an op- portunity of ascertaining the views of his experts regarding when the evacuation of the French could be completed.
It is leared in German quarters that Mr. Henderson said that the British evacuation was independ- ent of the carrying out of the Young Plan, but that M. Briand reattymed the French standpoint that evacua tion depended on a favourable set- tlement of the Reparations' ques- tion.
German circles are greatly dis-
aprinted at M. Briand's statement. It is understood that the Belgian standpoint approaches that of the British who are reported to be pre- pared to begin the evacuation in September and complete it Christmas-Reuter.
Americans Interested
by
New York. Yesterday. Americans are more interested in the events of The Hague than in any International Conference since the Naval Disarmament Conference in 1927.
Newspapers publish daily two to three columns of despatches from The Hague. American correspond- onts almost unanimously accuse Mr. Snowden of ruining the Young Plan.
The newspapers continue to eri- ticise Mr. Snowden.
"The N. Y. Times" declares that his arrogant tone has imperilled other, British policies and will un- doubtedly make the Anglo-American naval
far negotiations difficult and dubious.
