"GREATEST IMPORTANCE"
Wellington, N.Z.. Saturday. In response to Inquiries, the Prime Minister; Sir Joseph Ward, stated that the British Govern ment's proposals with reference to naval defence have received the at- tention of the New Zealand Dominion Government, which has communicated a tentative expres- sion of views to London in regard to the matter.
Sir Joseph Ward said that his message made clear that the New Zealand Government attached the greatest importance to the question of naval defence, particularly the naval base at Singapore; and the declared views of New Zealand on the latter question, expressed on previous occasions, remained un- altered.
