EIGHT SWEDISH SHIPS ON ORIENTAL SERVICE

Vancouver, June 22, The famous Klaveness shipping interests of Sweden have decided" to enter the Pacific trade.
According to an announcement made here by A. F. Darroch, this firm will place eight vessels in ser- vice. between British Columbia, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Java and the Straits Settlements.
The first vessel will sail early in August from Vancouver. The schedule calls for 25 days sail- ings.
In the past local importers and exporters to the Southern Asiatic ports have been compelled to de- pend upon tramp tonnage or else
send their
south cargoes
for
range
trans-shipment at Seattle, Los Angeles or San Francisco. Even at best the North Pacific has received but meagre attention in this field as there are only two lines running from the Pa- cific coast; the Kerr line, with two sailings per month and the Java Pacific with one per month.
