London, Yesterday. rain, accompanied by Heavy violent thunderstorms, occurred over most of England early to-day, thus breaking the drought which had become severe in many parts of the country. MORE QUESTIONS IN THE COMMONS

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

London, Yesterday. Questioned in the House of Commons to-day regarding the re- relations sumption of diplomatic with Russia, the Foreign Secretary (Mr. A. Henderson) said he could say no more at present than that the Government were in communica- tion with the Dominions' Govern- ments on the subject, but he hoped to be able to make a statement at an early date.

An undertaking had been given at the Imperial Conference that the British Government would not re- sume negotiations or normal rela- tions with Russia without acquaint-¡ ing the Dominions.

Mr. Henderson added: "That is what we have done up till now. We shall not depart from that under- taking."

Answering a further question on the subject Mr. Henderson said that no suggestion had yet been made to the Dominions Governments as to the conditions on which diplomatic relations with the Soviet Govern ment should be resumed nor had the subject been discussed with the American representative of the GovernmentBritish Wireless Ser-
