RACING SENSATION

FAVOURITE FAILS IN FRENCH GRAND NATIONAL

ONLY HORSE FROM ENGLAND

Paris. Yesterday.

At Auteuil, Easter Hero, the crack hurdle race horse owned by Mr. J. H. Whitney, an American, was the only entrant from the English side of the Channel among twelve canners in the race Grand

Steeplechase de Paris, which is the French Grand National.

Easter Hero was heavily backed but failed to finish, thereby creating a great sensation. It was ascertained Rubsequently that the horse had strain- ed his back at the second water jump and that the jockey, Moloney, had pull- ed up to prevent further injury.

Le Touquet won the race by four lengths from the second runner.

The course is four miles. The first prize was 500,000 fernes-Router,

The attendances of the outgoing Council have been good, and consider- able help has been rendered by all; and there has never been difficulty at: any meeting to form a quorum. On many occasions, a full Board has been recorded.

General Points

The Council will, however, probably be asked to explain many, general points of interest as recorded in the two big statements of accounts, and discussion may be helpful for future guidance.

No important changes are anticl- 'pated in the officials of the Associa
