Cerman Post-War Cruiser. The first German warship to be built since the War, this cruiser, "Konigsberg," has been officially commissioned with a crew and turned over to the Navy De- partment. Although this craft comes strictly within the specifications of the Pence Treaty, it has exceptional fighting power, as has its new sister cruiser, "Ersatz Preussen."

$11,000,000 Cruiser Launched.-Here's the newest addition to the United States fleet, the U.S.S. "Pensacola," just after the cruiser left the ways at Brooklyn Navy Yard, N.Y. Mrs. Josie K. When Seligman, inset, with Secretary of Navy, Charles Adams, christened the giant cruiser. placed in commission the "Pensacola" will carry a complement of 500 men and officers. She is 685 feet in length and can make 32 knots per hour.

Tornado Claims 86-Year-Old Vietim.-This is one of the homes that same tumbling down at Melter, Ga., when a tornado swept through the State, causing enormous loss of life and property. Old Mrk. Trapnell, the only person in Metter to be claimed by death as a result of the hurricane, formerly resided in this house, and was mercifully killed, so that she would not have to face a life of poverty after the loss of her property.

From the Land of the Midnight Sun.-Loyal sons and daughters of Norway celebrated their National Independence Day with a dinner at the Majestic Hotel, Shanghai. Among the representative guests were the A toast to Norwegian Minister to China, Mr N. Aall; and Mr. L Grenvold, Norwegian Consul-General. Norway's King was proposed by Mr. Aall, and another to Independence Day by Mr. H. Berents.--(Ah: Fong-)

Official Opening of the Bhanghai Lawn Bowls Club was held under ideal weather conditions on a Saturday when a representative gathering of members and their friends was present. Mr Fletcher, wife of Mr. F. Fletcher, President of the Chuk, performed the opening ceremony by rolling up the allver "Jack" and one perfectly-bowled "wood" which rested within a few inches of the "Jack" Mr. James Muaro, aewly-elected Captain of the Club, presented Mrs. Fletcher with a silver cake-knife sypropriately inscribed, as a souvenir of the occasion when this group photograph was taken.
