THE LIFEGUARDSMAN WHO DROPPED

SLEEPING CHARGER

This is the true story of the Life- guardsman who dropped, and it happened in Whitehall in mail week. He was one of the two sentries on guard at the entrance to the Horse Guards Parade. His helmet and cuirass shone in the sun; the gleam on the coat of his jet black charger set off the snowy whiteness ohia gauntlets.

He was one of the Sights of Lon- don-and he knew it.
