THE
FREIGHT MARKET
REVIEW FOR THE FORTNIGHT
ENDED APRIL (1)
Shanghai, April 12. Messrs. Wheelock & Co., review the position in the freight market dur- ing the past fortnight. as follows:
The situation of the Outward Freight Market we find to be as fol- lows:-
To the United Kingdom and Con- tinent: The market has developed still further weakness during the past fortnight owing to the uncertainty of conditions brought about by the poli- tical situation as well as to the ad- verse river conditions obtaining on the Yangtsze, but it is hoped that the latter will improve sufficiently to allow of ocean steamers proceeding to Hankow at the end of this month. Rates from Vladivostock continue weak, 27/6 having been done for May.
The next steamers to load on this berth are as follows:-
Marseilles, London, Rot-
terdam, "Antenor"
Genon, Marseilles, Rotter- dam, "Burgenland".... Marseilles, Rotterdam,
