I am extremely sorry Dr. Tsol has left us, and I wish he had not; done so, but I appreciate, his feel- ings that on appointment to the Legislative Council he should make way here for another spokesman for the Chinese com- munity.

He bears a well- known and honoured name and he will, I am sure, prove a worthy upholder of a great reputation. He has already shown his worth on several committees and Boards and we now welcome his co- operation in our work for the fur- therance of the public health of the Colony.

No fewer than thirteen charges arising out of his driving a motor car without a licence, were brought against a Chinese before Major C. Willson, O.B.E., at the Central Magistracy yesterday.
The accused was alleged to have driven the car without the permission of the proper driver The car was parked in Wing Lok- street and the driver was absent when accused drove it away. The car eventually erashed into a shop window in Stanley-street, doing damage to the extent of $80.

SMART WORK BY CHINESE DISTRICT WATCHMAN
CULPRITS JAILED
Before Mr. E. W. 'Hamilton, at the Central Magistracy, yester- day, a Chinese seamstress and her son were sentenced to six months' hard labour each for kid- napping a baby girl and selling her to a boat mistress for $85.
Traffic Sub-Inspector Nicol said that accused's licence had bean suspended since March 2, and he had failed to pay fines on four old summonses for which a warrant His was issued for his arrest. Worship was asked to take a serious view of the case.
On pleading guilty to all the charges, accused was fined $50 or four weeks jail on the "latest"
