EMPLOYERS FOOLED TWICE

Pong King-pang, a salesman.em- ployed by the Cheung Hing Loong hrm, of No. 5, Li On-lane, West Point, was this morning charged be fore Mr. E. W. Hamilton, at the Cen- tral Magistracy, with the embezzle ment of $40, the property of the frm,

He alleged that he was dismissed and, as no wages were given him, be retained the money which he had collected on behalf of the firm.

The prosecution's story was that about the middle of last month accused went to Shekki on the Arm's business and collected $290. He then wrote to the firm stating that he had lost the money.

Pong was asked to return to Hong Kong and did so, arriving here on March 21. He promised to raise a loan with friends and refund the lost money, and his employers were satisfied.

However, they took him

to No. 7 Police Station where Pong repeated his story of having lost the money and showed himself an- xious to refund it as soon as he could make arrangements. With the knowledge of the Police of the mat- ter, Pong's employers were content to wait for the money.
