·McEACHRAN AND GOLDMAN RESULTS OF FANLING EASTER crack at a good boy and the bout,

FOR THE FINAL

By virtue of a win in three straight sets over the Lo bro- thers yesterday, J. McEachran and L. Goldman have qualified to meet the Rumjahn cousins in the final of the Open Doubles Cham- pionship. The score 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 is a just reflex of the play,

With each of the players hesitating to go all out the first set was a humdrum affair. In this set the Los had a good chance of drawing level when the score was 4-3 against them as they were leading by forty love. But, uneven play lost them that game, the next one, and the set. It was only in the second set | that the C.R.C. seriously challenged the men from Shang- hai. The Los after being down 1-8, made a spurt, and with M. K. showing more steadiness and McEachran losing his accuracy, for the only period of the match, they led by 4-3 and again by 6-4. Then Goldman came along and the British pair won the next three games.

McEachran must be a heart- break to opponents. Anything but pretty to watch, he is genius at picking up hard shots from almost any position and sending them skywards over the net to the back of the court. He seldoin electrifies, but he gives little away. Last night he did the wearing down, while his part- ner supplied the fireworks...

We have seen the Lo brothers play very much better. M. K... whose play has lost much of its old time sting, was decidedly off and put far too many easy ones into the net. Observing this his opponents played on to him and frequently got his blind spot. M. W. played well, displaying glimpses of the form that helped him to overcome Honda, but he had no rocklike McEachran to supplement his aggressive, play. A well-balanced couple beat an unever pair.

The final between the Rum- jahns and last night's winners should be worth watching.
