ACCUSATION OF BOOK'S IRREGULARITY
SUPREME COURT CASE
An entire withdrawal was made this morning of a serious accusa- tion by counsel in the Supreme Court yesterday, before his Hon- our the Chief Justice (Sir Henry Gollan, C.B.E.). (
The parties are, plaintiff, La Ting-on, of No. 80, Third-street, 2nd floor, gentleman, head of the King On Tong; defendants, the Ma Pak Leung firm, No. 310, Queen's-road Central, druggists.
Mr. F. C. Jenkin (instructed by Messra. Hastings. Dennys and Rowley) was for plaintiffs. Mr. C. G. Alabaster, O.B.E., K.C., and Mr. Eldon Potter, K.C., (instruct ed by Messrs. d'Almada and Mason) were for defendants..

This morning, prior to examination of witness by Mr. Jenkin, Mr. Potter said: "I have pressed it very hard upon my clients that there is a possibility of an error or a mistake and they said they would leave it entirely in my hands. If there was any possibility of a mistake, they wish it to be withdrawn entirely, They have their own views and I want to withdraw the point en tirely because there is a possibil. ity of an error. In fairness to the witness, I withdraw the allega- tion entirely. I do not wish to leave it in this position-that this was a wild allegation-but there was a possibility of confusion be- tween two books and, by reason of such possibility, I wish to withdraw absolutely."
Expressing approval, his Lord- ship said that the allegation had been very grave and he was glad to see it withdrawn.
The case is proceeding.
