The race was disappointing. Ox ford did not fulfil the promise of their training. Cambridge, on the other
beautiful hand, showed rhythm throughout. They levelled up just after the start and led by a length at the milepost after 4 mins.
Mr. Ulster, who is the owner of Ace of Spades, won the first race with Erin's Isle who made his initial appearance at the meeting. Mr. N. Tashim's My Lady, who has won four races out of four
starts, further enhanced her re- putation by winning the Spring Plate in easy fashion.
Mr. W. T. Stanton had the mis- fortune to come down at the 15 secs., by three lengths at Ham-second hurdle out while riding Target in the Spring Plate. He was brought in to the Jockey Room unconscious, and attended tu by Dr. MacGown who refused to allow him to participate in any

POLICE R.C. v. CHINESE ATHLETIC
The big surprise of the day was the defeat of the Athletics at Caroline Hill by the Police R.C. in a rather poor match by one goal (scored from a free kick) to nil. The Athletic, were superior, but a superb defence by Wynne, who turned out rather unexpect edly, gave the Police full points.

Referee: C.P.O. Cowan, R.N. The Athletic, straight from the kick-off attacked, Lai Wai-koon being early in evidence with clever football, but Wynne re lieved and Fraser was dangerous at the other end. The Police had the first real chance, McEwen hesitating in a good position. Chinese Athletics fed the left wing, but Suen and Chen were not having it all their own way with Brittain and Wynne, and end to end play was the order. Oram took a free kick for the Police with Fraser well through, and, the ball touching a defender, beat Chan Sek-pui in the corner, and Police were one up.
Howarth and McGreavy were away from the restart but Howarth hung on too long. The Chinese were nearly through, Choy putting behind when well placed. The Police led at the in- terval by one goal to nil.
