"Hai- ning" was married at St. John's Cathedral on March 18 to Miss Florence Elizabeth George, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. George of the R.N. Dockyard, Hong Kong. The Misses Maude, Winnie and Peggy George (sisters of the bride) were bridesmaids. Mr. G. H. Bickford (who is also an officer in the Douglas S.S. Co.) was best man. (K. Fujiyama).

"OHEL LEAH” SYNAGOGUE MARRIAGE ON MARCH 17. Group taken after the marriage of Private Nathan Leaf, 2nd Bn. King's Own Scottish Borderers, to Miss. Regina David. The ceremony was performed by Rabbi Mr. G. Elias. Mr. David S. Gubbay gave the bride away. The Misses Lily Elias and Mary Crossan were the bridesmaids. Corporal A. Lawson was best man. CANTON'S GOVERNOR IN HOSPITAL. General Chan

Ming-shu (Chen Min-chu), chairman of the Kwangtung, pro-

vincial Government, who was injured in the King Edward

Hotel fire on March 11, and is being treated at the Govern-

ment Civil Hospital, Hong Kong. In addition to being Gov- ernor, General Chan commands the 11th Nationalist Army

Corps.

TAI KAM ISLAND, WHICH IS OWNED BY MISSIONARIES It is 80 miles from Hong Kong and 90 miles from Canton HE Dr. Wa Ting-fang, who practised as a barrister-at-law in Hong Kong and is the deceased father of Dr. C, C. Wu (appointed Minister to the U.S.A) bought the feland and gave it to the Canton Baptist Mission. It was then the haunt of pirates. On the north side is a site of 30,000 square feet where stand the 16 buildings of the "first unit(seen on right. lepers In the "colony built the causeways themselves. There is room for hundreds of buildings and thousands of lepers. On the south of the leland is a village of fishermen pirates whom the missionaries are evangelising! The inhabitants - now conduct their own affairs in orderly fashion without Government supervision. The Rev. Mr. J. Lake, who interviewed the Governor in Hong Kong in February regarding lepers, supervises the work from the Baptist Mission in Cantou.
