THE CHINA MAIL,
Two Europeans, J. L. McLermott, described 35 of Melbourne, Australia, and J. McLermott, of Glasgow, were on Saturday charg- ed before Mr. T. S. Whyte-Smith, at the Kowloon Magistracy, with stowing away from Shanghai to Hong Kong on board the Canadian Pacific 8.5. "Empress of Asia." The two defendants are stated to be cousins who had met in Shang- bai. It is understood that the Melbourne man's parents have re- to return mitted funds for him home, but the father of the man from Glasgow is said to have re- fused to have anything to do with him. Defendants were fined $50 each, or, in default, one month's hard labour.
