THE PRINCE OF WALES' INFORMAL TOUR OF DISTRESSED MINING AREAS.-H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, as patron of the Lord Mayor's Relief Fund, made a personal tour of the towns and villages of the Northumberland and Dur ham coalfields to see for himself the distressed conditions prevailing. MODEL AERODROME COMPETITION DESIGNS-The Royal Institute of British Architects recently held a com- petition for the best designs for the aerodrome of the future in London. BIG BOXING MATCH AT THE ALBERT HALL, LOND ON.—A vast crowd attend- ed the Royal Albert Hall, London, to watch the fight between Phil Scott, the British heavyweight champion, and Ted Sandwina, the German-American. Scottt was de- clared the winner on a foul in the fifth round. The British Broadcasting Corporation commentators are seen in their box, describing the fight.— (Sport and General).

MALE MANNEQUINS AT THE BRITISH ARTIFICIAL SILK EXHIBITION AT OLYMPIA—At an Inauguration luncheon of the British Artificial Silk Goods Exhibition, Lady Rhondda. expressed the hope that she would one day see men going to business in silken shorts and shirts. Quick to seize on the. ides, the Exhibition organised a parade of men's artificial silk wear, specially design- ed and made.
