NOTES ON INTERPORT WEEK
Hong Kong's Forward Strength Against Shanghai
[By "Rover"]
The soccer programme for to-morrow is restricted to 2nd divi- sion League matches as, owing to the rugby Interport between Hong Kong and Shanghai on the H.K.F.C. ground, the Hong Kong Foot- ball Association have postponed all senior matches. Fixtures are as follow:-
H.K. Amateur Football League, Division II-kick-off 2,45 p.m.
1st Bn. Queen's R. Regt. v. Club de Recreio, Chatham-road,
Kowloon.
Royal Navy v. South China "B," R.N. ground, Happy Valley. Small Units v. St. Joseph's College, Chinese ground, Happy
Valley.
Royal Air Force v. Royal Artillery, King's Park, Kowloon. Kowloon F.C. v. Chinese Athletic, Kowloon F.C. ground. South China "A" v. Eastern F.C., Curoline Hill. Kowloon Seniors have, in addi- tion, arranged a friendly at Kow- Icon v. ILMS. "Suffolk", kick-off at p.m. the restriction as to Friendly Sentor matchey not 'ex- tending to the Kowloon side,
The matches in the 2nd division should enable both the Queen's Regt, and Royal Navy to add to their League points with good wins.
Small Waits way, find the St. Joseph's a much improved site fi and 1 rather fancy St. Joseph's will secure full points.
RA.F. should beat the E.A. South China "A" may bent Eastern. The best match of the day should be the meeting of Kow- loon and Chinese Athletic and there will be a big struggle for the points in this match as Kow- Joon Reserves are fielding a very useful eleven and are at present playing a good game.. ---
The big event in the local saccer world is the Interport on Monday, on the Hong Kong FC. ground at Happy Valley, kick-off at 3.30 p.m. The probable teams are:-
Hong Kong
Clarke (Police); Wynne (Police),
Bishop (Hong Kong FC.); Remedios (Recreio), McKelvic (Kowloon F.C.). Lam Yuk-ying (Chinese Athle
tic);
Barkham (Royal Navy),
Fung King-cheung (South China
A.A.),
Gosano (Recreio),
Suen Kam-shun (Chinese
letic),
ly selected. Pote-Hunt, Gaah and Costa are tried and trusted; and Moore, the new man, is solid throughout and a trier all the way, although he will not play against Hong Kong in the first match. In the forward line Shang hal have sprung a surprise in the final salection. Wright, a very clever forward, is the only Service player included. It was thought that Jones of the Northants Regt. would have been preformed to
POLICE INTERPORT
On Sunday afternoon, at Caroline Hill, the Police XI to play the Shanghai Police in Murch will mest a Combined Chinese XI. More than one Interport "cap," picked for Monday's big game, is expected to take part.
Turner, but in this instance Club combination has probably weighed
in.
Monday is the day of the big match and we expect a very fast one with plenty of thrills, and may i the better team win.:
*
On Wednesday. Shanghai play the Combined Chinese and the Chinese team selected is a very strong one, with eight Athletic players and three South China players. The veteran Athletic centre, Weng Pak-chong, will lead
