NEW HARBOUR

| £3,300,000 ANCHORAGE SHOWS MANY DEFECTS

Sekondi, Gold Coast. Takoradi Harbour was opened for trafic recently, but chaotle con-

ditions prevailed. The business of the assize court had to be delayed as the jurors were unable to use the roada in the neighbourhood of the barbour.

The facilities for transporting goods and passengers are in- adequate.

Dredges are hard at work inside the harbour and its approaches try-

ing to remove the difficulties.

Takoradi Harbour, which cost £3,300,000 to build was officially opened by Mr. J. H. Thomas, M.P., last April,

In August the Government of the Gold Coast reported that "certain defects have been found in the construction of the deep-water wharves." It was decided to post- pone the opening of the harbour to general traffic until the defects had been made good.
