TYNE LOADING JETTY

The Pelaw Main Collieries, Ltd., Birtley, Durham, are embarking on a schemo to-construct a new coal londing jetty on the Tyne at Pelaw Main for which they have obtained sanction from the Tyne Improvement Commission.

The quay is to be 147 ft. long and 23 ft. wide, the north and be ing about 63 ft. southward. of the south end of Maloney's-quay.

The face of the jetty will be about 60 ft. riverward of high- water mark and between 12 and 15 ft. landward of the Commis- sioners' deep water quay or river line.

The quay is to be supported on 16 ferro-concrete cylinders 3 ft. and 5 ft. external diameter, and the cylinders are to be framed and braced together and the concrete decking is to be about 8 ft; above:

At a general meeting of the North German Lloyd the pre- sident, Herr Heinecken, announced that an American syndicate, con- sisting of Kuhn, Loeb, and Co., and the Lee-Higginson Co. had offered to Issue for the company 35,000,000 marks' worth of North- German Lloyd shares. The syn- dicate would introduce the shares un the New York Stock Exchange.

.The board of directors considered the offer extremely favourable, and urged its adoption to the share- holders, who unanimously approved on increase of the company's capi tal.
