MAYOR'S PROCESSION IN KENT.-The first Mayoral procession in Maidstone, Kent, during the 380 years it has been a horough.. To commemorate his fourth term of office, Mr. G. Tyrwhitt-Drake, the Mayor of Maidstone, held a Mayor's procession, the main feature of which was cara depicting the town's industries. The Mayor rode in the procession on a cream horse, wearing his Mayoral robes. Alove is seen the Mayor, Councillor G. Tyrwhitt-Drake, in his Mayoral robes, in the procession,-(Sport and General).
FLYING TO THE SAHARA TO SEEK A SPEED TRACK-Capt. Malcolm Campbell, the famous racing motorist, left. Croydon aerodrome, in his light aeroplane, "Blue Bird," for the Sahara, where he hopes to discover a 12-mile stretch of hard level sand on which to attempt to break the world's motor speed record with his 600 horse power Campbell-Napier Car. He hopes to attain a speed of 220-230 miles per hour. He is seen above with his wife and children before leaving.(Sport and General).
