BURGLAR WATCHED
SIR WILLIAM BULL'S STORY
Sir William Bull, M.P., was recently presented with..a gold watth and chain by members of the "T" Division of the Metro- politan Special Constabulary to replace those stolen during a re- cent burglary at his house in Uxbridge-road. The presentation was made at the Town Hall, Hammersmith, by the Command- ant of the division, Sir Edward Nicholl, who said they all deeply appreciated what Sir William hád done for the Special Constabulary, of which he was a member.
Sir William, describing · the burglary, which occurred when he was asleep, said: "My wife watched and saw the burglar rifling the drawers. She saw him sneak out of the door, and gave him five minutes' grace. Possibly she thought it better not

In those days I was better known as an amateur pugilist, and I have often felt the deepest. regret that I gave up so much valuable time to the "noble art," which should properly have been devoted to study -though boxing, of course, is a study in itself.
Later, as a young man, I was) for some years sub-editor of the Salisbury and Winchester Journal, In succession to the late Sir William Laird Clewes, and I must say that] the work was rather dull owing to the catmosphere which is wont to prevail in any cathedral city.
Afterwards I became private secretary to the late Sir Frederick the Conservative Seager Hunt, Member for West Marylebone. Lord Charles Beresford was
the Member for East Marylebone, and Sunrise and Sunset in Hong I was frequently able to benefit by Kong for December, 1928, the experience of both these kind (standard time of the 120th Meri- friends. I was with Sir Frederick dian, East of Greenwich), is as over seven years, and no one was follow:-

Soon after, my years with Sir' Frederick Senger Hunt, I took up civil engineering as a profession and became a member of the Society of Engineers of London, and, later, a Fellow of that Society.
