Mystery of Motive in Murder of Hong Kong Girl
CONVICTED STUDENT'S PREVIOUS MARRIAGE
[From a Special Correspondent} Probably throwing some light on the mystery of the motive for the murder of Mrs. Miao in England is an important link contained in some startling information which has been placed at my disposal.
It is that Dr. Miao Chung-yl, who stands convicted of the crime which has been brought home to him, was married several years ago before he went to America.
Dr. Mino and his wife were devoted to each other, as far as is known in this part of the world. The couple were in tears on Dr. Miao's departure from Shanghai shortly after the marriage.
The oldest of seven sons of a well-to-do North China family, Dr. Miao is reported, after arrest, to have cabled home for assistance, denying relationship with the deceased lady; and the fact that he married in America this year has been withheld from the know- ledge of his wife.
