Witness Says He Did Not Sign The Cheques
MR. JENKIN STARTS CROSS-EXAMINATION
Examination-in-chief of Mr. Thomas Bluck, accountant at the Treasury, occupied most of the morning on the second day of the trial of Carvalho Yeo at the November Criminal Session.
Several Mr. Black showed occasional signs of nervousness, times Mr. Sheldon (who conducted the examination for the Crown) told Mr. Black to speak up so that the jury could hear. The Judge had to remind Mr. Black once that he must keep his voice up.
When Mr. Sheldon asked Mr. Black: "Did you sign any of these three, cheques?" (meaning those that formed the subject mat- ter of the indictment of forgery and uttering), Mr. Black replied slowly and with studied emphasis:-
