HENDREN'S 100TH
NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT IN AUSTRALIA
M.C.C. v. VICTORIA
In the second match of the present cricket tour in Australia, the English visitors put themselves in a commanding position against Victoria, one of the strongest of the States in the Commonwealth..
This match has been dis- tinguished by three features.
"Patsy Hendren, in his third tour down under, has had the satisfaction of scoring his hun dredth century.
D. H. Jardine has signalised his Inclusion by scoring a century, following hie similar feat in the opening game at Perth.
Larwood, the fast bowler of whom England expects much in the attack, bas "come off."
England's Lead Cabling from Melbourne on Saturday, Reuter said:-
Scores at close of play to-day in the Victoria v. M.C.C. match were
Victoria (1st innings) 164 runs. Larwood, H. (Notts) took 7 wickets for 51 runs, W. M. Woodfull open ed the innings and carried out his bat, undefeated, for 67 runs,

At that time C.B. Fry predicted that Hendren would one day become the Tyldesley of Middlesex, a pro- phecy which has long been fulfilled. Consistency
Consistent as Hendren has been in county cricket he has been rather a disappointment in the bigger games, and although he has played in seventeen Testa against Austra- fia, the only time he has reached three figures against them was at Lord's in 1926, when he made 172*

YACHT CLUB
SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE SEASON
22 BOATS TAKE PART
Twenty-two boats took part on Saturday in the second champion- ship race of the Royal Hong Kong and only one Yacht Club season failed to finish.
The course of 9.4 miles was to Lyemun Beacon (port), Kowloon Rocks (p), mark on Club line (p), Channel Rocks (starboard), finish at the Club.
The racing was very interesting. Colleen and La Linda were first and second to cross the line in the Handicap class and kept their re- spectiva positions on handicap.
Combined Class
Not, so in the combined class for One Designs and Gaels. First place on corrected time was taken by Thocla, which was fifth in actual order of finish. Ailsa and Halcyon (both "scratch" yachts) were, how- ever, able to save their time on the other five competitors and took points for second and third.
In the Hayward Heys class the seven boats to finish took positions In the order in which they completed the course, the handicaps making no
difference.
In the tabulated results given below, yachts are set down in order of actually finishing the distance, but the positions gained (for paints in the season's championship), based on handicap (.e.. corrected time) are put next to each name in parentheses.
